The role of The Mortgage Code Compliance Board (Mortgage Board)
is to ensure that you are fully informed and adequately protected
when taking out a mortgage.
The MCCB ensure that all of the lenders and intermediaries registered
with us adhere to the standards set out in the Mortgage Code.
A comprehensive programme of compliance inspection and compliance
liaison visits are conducted each year. Additionally, 'mystery shopping'
and other consumer research exercises are conducted to ensure that
consumers are receiving the full benefits of the Code's protection.
When problems arise we conduct detailed investigations and, through
an independent disciplinary process, when severe Code breaches are
proven we have the power to direct firms as regards their future
conduct and can fine, suspend, or de-register firms.
